ADHD-INFORMED EXECUTIVE FUNCTION COACHING FOR CHILDREN, TEENS,

AND THE PARENTS WHO SUPPORT THEM.

It's Not Laziness. It's Executive Functioning.

Discover why your bright, capable child struggles to get started, stay organized, and follow through—and build the skills and systems that finally make daily life work.

Smart Kids. Real Struggles.

Your child isn't struggling because they don't care.
Kids with ADHD and executive functioning challenges know what to do. The hard part is doing it—starting, organizing, remembering, and following through.
Executive functioning skills don't develop on their own schedule just because a child is bright. They develop through explicit support, practiced systems, and adults who understand the difference between 'won't' and 'can't.'
The answer isn't more consequences, more reminders, or more pressure.
It's identifying the specific skills that are lagging—and building them, together.

Common Concerns I Help With

ADHD diagnosis (or suspected ADHD)

Homework battles and meltdowns

Forgotten assignments and lost materials

Trouble getting started on tasks

Time blindness and chronic lateness

Chaotic morning and evening routines

Bright student, falling grades

Consequences and rewards that stopped working

Here's How We Work Together

Every family starts with understanding, then chooses the coaching path that fits their child's age and needs.

Step 1 · Discovery & Individualized Intake

Every family begins with a conversation about what's happening at home and school. From there, we design an intake that fits your child's needs—for some families that's a focused parent interview; for others, it includes formal executive functioning assessment using the BDEFS-CA (Barkley Deficits in Executive Functioning Scale for Children and Adolescents), a research-normed measure that shows exactly where your child's executive skills stand.

✔ Parent interview

✔ Formal EF assessment when needed

✔ Clear picture of lagging skills and strengths

✔ Personalized coaching recommendation

Step 2 · Choose Your Path

Executive functioning support looks different at seven than it does at fifteen. That's why I offer two distinct coaching tracks.

Option A · Parent Coaching (Elementary Ages)

For parents of younger children, the most powerful intervention is you. Using Dr. Ross Greene's Collaborative & Proactive Solutions approach and the Smart but Scattered framework, I coach you to identify the specific executive skills your child is missing, solve recurring problems collaboratively instead of through escalating consequences, and build routines that work with your child's brain instead of against it.

✔ Identify your child's lagging skills

✔ Collaborative problem-solving that ends the power struggles

✔ Routines and environmental supports for real family life

✔ Practical between-session guidance

Option B · Student Executive Function Coaching (Middle & High School)

For older students, lasting change comes when the systems are theirs. Drawing on Nancy Ratey's ADHD coaching model, I work directly with your teen as a coaching partner—not another adult telling them what to do. Together we set goals that matter to them, design planning and organization systems that fit how their brain works, and build in the structure and accountability that turns intentions into follow-through.

✔ Student-driven goals and buy-in

✔ Personalized systems for planning, time, and materials

✔ Weekly accountability and strategy refinement

✔ Self-advocacy and self-understanding skills that last beyond coaching

Available in-person in West Los Angeles and via telehealth throughout California.

My Approach

Executive functioning challenges aren't a character flaw, and they don't respond to pressure. Kids build these skills when the adults around them understand what's actually hard, teach skills explicitly, and design environments where success is possible. That's the philosophy behind every coaching relationship I build.

Kids Do Well If They Can

When a child isn't meeting expectations, it's a skills gap—not a motivation problem. We find the gap and close it.

Collaborative

Solutions are built with children and teens, not imposed on them. Buy-in is what makes change stick.

Individualized

Coaching is based on your child's actual executive profile—not a generic organization curriculum.

Evidence-Based

My work draws on established models: Collaborative & Proactive Solutions, the Smart but Scattered framework, and ADHD coaching methodology.

Parent Partnership

Whether I'm coaching you or your teen, parents leave with practical guidance so progress continues at home.

About Ursula

Ursula Marin, MA, CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist and the founder of Early Connections Speech Therapy, where she supports children, teens, and parents navigating ADHD and executive functioning challenges. Executive skills like planning, self-monitoring, and impulse control are built on inner language—the self-talk children use to guide their own behavior—which places executive functioning squarely within her expertise as an SLP. She has worked with children and families since 2011, and her coaching integrates the collaborative, skills-based models of Dr. Ross Greene, Peg Dawson and Richard Guare, and ADHD coach Nancy Ratey.

Ready to Stop the Daily Battles?

The first step isn't a stricter system or a new consequence. It's understanding which executive skills your child needs—and building them together. Schedule a discovery call to share what's happening, ask questions, and see whether we're a good fit.
