Here's How We Work Together
Every family starts with clarity, then chooses the level of support that fits best.
Step 1 · Comprehensive Reading Evaluation
A full evaluation shows exactly where reading is breaking down and why — how your child works with sounds, their language, what they hold in mind. We teach at the right spot from day one, with a baseline to measure real progress against.
Step 2 · Consultation & Plan
We sit down and walk through what I found: your child's strengths, where reading breaks down, and what's causing it. Then we build the plan — where to start, what comes first, how often we meet — plus what you can do at home.
Step 3 · Reading Intervention (Orton-Gillingham)
One-on-one Orton-Gillingham instruction, grounded in reading science. Multisensory lessons — hear it, say it, see it, write it — targeted to your child's exact errors, building skill by skill and never moving on until one is solid. IMSE OG+ trained (IDA-accredited); caregivers welcome in every session.
Step 4 · Progress Monitoring
I track progress every session — how accurately and quickly your child reads what we've taught, and where they still stumble. That data drives what's next: solid skills move on, shaky ones get retaught a different way. Your child's own learning sets the pace.

About Ursula
Ursula Marin, MA, CCC-SLP, is a licensed speech-language pathologist and the founder of Early Connections Speech Therapy, where she brings the science of language development to the teaching of reading. She is trained in Orton-Gillingham structured literacy through IMSE's IDA-accredited OG+ program and has worked with children and families since 2011. Because reading is built on spoken language, Ursula's dual expertise means she can identify and treat the underlying skill gaps — phonological, linguistic, or attentional — that tutoring alone often misses.
